Our home

Our 200m2 house was built in 1993 and is located in Ski in a very nice neighborhood, 20 km from downtown Oslo. All rooms are comfortable and have nice standard, wooden heated floors. We have a maid service on a biweekly basis. The master bedroom sleeps 2 and two children bedroom sleeps 2 each. There's a multimedia/living room on the top floor and a family/TV room with a large dining table on the main floor. Two bathrooms with floor heating, both with shower. Master bathroom with bathtub and twin sinks. Washing machine and freezer are in a separate room with a door that exits to the back of the garden. Terrace with dining table for 6 persons + sofa and chairs for 8-10 people + 2x gas heaters and a gas BBQ, balcony with table for 2(4). We also have a garden with small fruit trees, berries/vegetables and flowers. The property is both wheelchair and child friendly with a fence, and all main functions in the house are all on the ground floor. The garden is flat with a 200m2 concrete terrace, grass lawn and a 200m2 brick paved driveway. The sun sets at 23.00 in summer. Because of the forest close by, we have enjoyed an occasional deer walking past our kitchen window during breakfast. The kitchen easily seats 6 people and has a oven, dishwasher and a microwave. High speed Internet, a well-equipped kitchen and outdoor gas grill for use in the summer. Lots of toys for children age 10 - 14, a big trampoline in the garden and lots of footballs in a toy box outside.
We also have a small summer house in Sweden, 80m2 big, which is quite simple. It has 2 bedrooms, sleeps 2 and 3(4) people. It has indoor water, small shower room and WC. The house is build in the 1930's and is very typical Swedish house. The porch is huge, and it is only 100m to the great lakes of Dalslands Canal, http://www.langdale-associates.com/sweden_2013/part_1/pic_30.htm. Perfect for swimming, boating, canoeing and fishing. For a person who is not afraid to toe a big boat we could be persuaded to let you borrow our fishing boat(sleeps 1 adult + 2 children)

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 4, Leila 44, Tor 48, Terje 17 and Trym 13. We have done a lot of traveling. We love being active and doing all kinds of sports, reading, swimming and sun bathing, but also just strolling around to explore things on our own. Leila works as a leader in a computer company and Tor is a general manager for a housing cooperative in Oslo. Both boys play soccer and handball and are active, but well behaved. They will be traveling with us. We have respect for other people's properties and promise to take very good care of your home. We are open for all suggestions and time periods but would prefer school holidays, July/early Aug, late December and Easter. The boys have the nicest cat you can imagine which we hope you can feed while we are away. We did our first exchange during Easter 2009 to Italy and we are completely taken by this way of traveling. We loved it and are looking forward to our next exchange. If you would like to go to Prekestolen, Olympic city of Lillehammer or other sights like Flydalsjuvet we would be more than happy to help out with alternative travel routes, etc

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The area is great for children and adults. Within 10 min walk you'll be downtown Ski with restaurants, huge shopping mall, cinema, theater and library. Ski is an ideal location for exploring and enjoying Oslo and the fjords around. In Drøbak you'll find the only all year Christmas house with an official post stamp. A short drive away there's nice skiing hills for Slalom and cross country, as well as several cities and two airports. The biggest town in the area is Oslo (capitol and 500.000 inh.). The train station is downtown Ski and you'll be in Oslo in 17-20 min. Oslo is only 25min drive by car(difficult and expensive to park in Oslo). It has museums, shops, new grand opera house, fortress and anything you may wish for. Just let us know what you like to see and do. You might want to check out these sites for more information on the area: visitkongsberg.no, ski.kommune.no, visitoslo.com, blaa.no, julehus.no, www.tusenfryd.no. You are welcome to use our two bicycles for adults and two children's bicycles. In summer the temperature in the fjord holds more than 20 centigrade. Just 20 min walk from the house you'll find a small and very child friendly fresh water lake or you can take the car and go to one of the nice, small beaches (only 10 minutes away by car). 2min by car there's a golf court and there is lot's of great nature/forest and hiking tracks nearby. Tusenfryd is 12min by car and is the biggest Amusement Park in Norway. See the Nobel Piece Centre, Holmenkollen and idyll among the skerris in guided boats in Oslo!
