Area: our house is situated in a safe and tranquil urbanization:Øvre Sædal, 200 meters over sea level. But only 8 km from Bergen downtown. One of the better middleclass areas in Bergen - safe and quiet.
No traffic noise - only sounds from the nature. Very fresh and clean air, excellent hiking possibilities with access right up to the Bergen mountains.
Bus stop 600 m away (bus leading to downtown Bergen in one direction; Nesttun suburban in the other).
No urban attractions in walking distance; you will have to drive or take the bus. But the nearest store is only 1 minute drive away, and the big shopping centers of Sletten and Nesttun only 5-10 minutes drive.

Right out of the door there are hiking trails into picturesque landscape incl different types of forests/wood, hills, streams, stunning views and scenery. There are playground for kids 10 meters from our house, larger playground (kindergarden) and soccer field 100 meters away.
Meeting place for Sædalstunet right outside the door; this is a social place where you easily come in touch with people if you want to.

5 minutes walk away is Nattlandsrinden, with evening sun till around 23 during summer, and some of Bergen´s best view spots. This is considered amoung the most exclusive areas in Bergen.

15 minutes walk away there is large playground (school) and shop. Bus stop ten minutes walk away. During weekdays there are direct buses to downtown once in an hour. During weekends one need to make a bus transfer.

If you stay in Bergen a couple of weeks there is a good choice to make a few days´ "mini-journey". f ex this one:

DAY1: driving 2-3 h to the fantastic Mjølfjell mountain resort (Voss). (with heated outdoor swimming pool, animals, fantastic mountain scenery etc. GREAT for kids!) hwww.mjolfjell.no stay there for one or two nights.
DAY2: Then 1 h drive to Norways prettiest fiord: Hardanger fiord. www.hardangerfjord.com
Reasonable and great stay at Lofthus Camping www.lofthuscamping.com
or hotel ullensvang . Picking Norways best berries and fruits directly from the threes.
Amusement park for kids nearby: www.mikkelparken.no
DAY 3: 1 h drive to glacier/nationalpark Folgefonna www.folgefonn.no , return to Bergen in evening. Or with a overnight, return next day.

If you like fishing and coastal landscape: rent a boat or a cottage + boat at splendid Øygarden

We believe that our home in Øvre Sædal is a very good place to have your base for exploring both Bergen and the great destination around!
