Arkles Bay beach is a beautiful sand and shell beach located on the southern side of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. Hidden away from the main tourist route and mainly visited by locals and people in the know - Arkles Bay is usually very peaceful and on weekdays you may find you have the entire beach to yourself. The Bay is very sheltered from winds which makes it the ideal location for watersports enthusiasts of all types, - from fishermen, yachties, and kayakers, to swimmers and paddle-boarders who are able to swim in the clean waters. This quiet bay faces the extinct Rangitoto volcano to the southeast, and Long Bay (Marine Reserve) directly south. Dolphins come to play in the shallow waters off the bay, and Orca whales have also been seen. In town there are 50 restaurants/takeways within 150m to 2.5 kilometers. Thai, Indian, Italian, Chinese, Turkish, European, etc including your favourite chain eateries (MacDonalds, Pizza Hut, Wendys, Subway, Hell Pizza, etc, etc)
