Our home is a relaxing family home set on a hill with private terraced gardens at the back with seating areas and a smaller garden area at the front. The living and dining area are adjoining and lead out to a deck which has a view of the sea and the mountains in the South Island. We have two double bedrooms, a single bedroom, a study and an office/studio with a separate entrance.
We are a couple in our early 40's. I Alex, am Irish and my partner, Runi, is Danish. We have both travelled a lot. My background is in international aid and development work education/health/social development and I am currently an independent contractor, working mainly in the health service sector, in Wellington. Runi has a background in social work. We have a cat (katrina) who is independent but very friendly (actualy totally adorable!)and will add pleasure to your stay. Luca & Kea (the dogs) will take their own holiday with relatives or friends while we are gone unless you would like to include a dog swap in the exchange.
The house is located about 10 minutes walk from the beach in the suburb of Island Bay on the beautiful south coast of Wellington. There are plenty of beaches along the coast, including a family beach with safe swimming and good surfing. There are local dive centres and nearby walking tracks. It is 5 km from Wellington City Centre (10 mins drive or bus) where there are museums art galleries good restaurants, shopping and entertainment all at hand.
