Our home

My home is the end one of a terrace of four townhouses, built in 1991. There are three bedrooms; two with double beds, and one with a single bed. The main bedroom has a large wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom. The sitting room has a sofa-bed. The sitting room is large, with a working fireplace (and lots of wood in the garage)and the front courtyard is a lovely place to have a drink and chat with neighbours. You can also sit out on the deck at the back, where there is a small barbecue. The kitchen is well-equipped and you can sit and watch TV while dinner cooks. Or someone can chat while you cook! The single car garage is below the house. The house is very comfortable and inviting, and I love living here and having my friends to visit. I should say that there is a resident cat, who could either stay or go and live across the road - depending on what you want!

Who we are

  1. I'm a woman in my mid-fifties, and I work in the not-for-profit sector. I lived in South West England and Ireland for a long time in the 80s & 90s, and have a lot of friends in Europe. I'll be travelling by myself, but I'd like to be somewhere where friends could come and visit me for a few days.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is very close to the city, in a charming heritage-zoned area - there are some historic houses in the street. The street is narrow, and finishes in a path. On the road below (less than 5 minutes down the path) are some very good restaurants, a pub, antique, interior design and clothes shops, and the Botanic Gardens are nearby. The motorway is close (but there is no noise from it) and it is easy to get out of town. It is only 10 minutes walk to the city centre, and there is a good bus service. There are lots of trips you can take - over to the vineyards of the Wairarapa; up the coast to beaches or over to the South Island on the ferry. Check out www.wellington.govt.nz for more information about the city.
