Who we are

  1. We are a married couple with two children. We are both IT professionals and enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. We are particularly interested in exchanging in Sept2011 - Oct 2011 when the rugby world cup is to be held in New Zealand. We would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Wellington is the capital city, port, and major commercial centre of New Zealand, located in the extreme south of North Island. It lies on the shores and hills surrounding Port Nicholson (Wellington Harbour), an almost landlocked bay that is ranked among the world's finest harbours.
The suburb of Mt Victoria (Mt Vic to the locals) is adjacent to Wellington's central entertainment precinct, and is one of the oldest in Wellington, and the character homes of the area reflect its origins in the early years of Wellington city (1880 to 1920).

Mount Victoria rises 643 feet (196 metres) near the centre of the suburb of Mt Vic and has panoramic views of Wellington, surrounding hills and looking out into the Cook Straight.

Our neighbourhood is only 5 minutes from the Embassy theatre where the première for the Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was held. Wellington city itself is nicknamed "Wellywood" by some locals because of the strength of the local film industry, including Peter Jacksons own studios and "Weta Workshops" world famous for the special effects that have made many movies successful.

Also within 5 minutes is the national Museum "Te Papa" www.tepapa.govt.nz
