Property features

Who we are

  1. Bill and Val are both 64, non-smokers, recently retired, married 42 years with 2 sons and 6 grandchildren. Bill is a builder by trade and Val was in banking. We have been caravanning over 30 years and seen a lot of N.Z., but wish to see more of the world while we can. We have been to U.K. previously, swapping our car and caravan for 8 weeks for the use of a motorhome in U.K. for 8 weeks. This was very successful and we made very good friends whom we still keep in touch with, 13 years later. We are able to either swap our car and caravan in N.Z. for a motorhome or caravan in U.K., ideally for 2 months, or swap our home in N.Z. for same in U.K..for shorter lengths of time. We would move around the country from May to July/August (in the U.K spring/summer of 2013) so are hoping to find house swaps for 2 to 4 weeks at a time while we are there. Non-simultaneous swap is fine with us so you are in N.Z. in warmer weather too.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live on the Kapiti Coast, a green and peaceful township with many facilities. We are only 15 minutes walk to the local railway station and the shopping centre, including 2 supermarkets. There is a variety of local restaurants and several cafes there, but many others on the Kapiti Coast for casual or fine dining within 10 minutes drive. There is a regular bus service past the gate, and regular trains to local Paraparaumu shopping mall Coastlands or into the capital city Wellington. It is just over an hour on the train into the city. Wellington City has many attractions such as Te Papa Museum, the Cable Car, lovely waterfront area around Wellington Harbour. Wellington Airport is 1 1/4 hour drive from here.
It is about 10 minutes walk to the Waikanae River, 2 minutes walk to the local swimming pools, and only 3 kms to our beautiful sandy beach where spectacular sunsets are viewed. There are plenty of places to walk, lots of walking tracks either on the flat or in the nearby hills. Tramping in the Tararua Ranges is popular too.
There are well known tourist attractions nearby, such as Nga Manu Bird Sanctuary and Southwards Vintage Car Museum (just a few minutes drive away.) Close to Paraparaumu Golf Course which is among top 100 in the world, and there are at least 10 other golf courses within an hours drive. Local coastal waters offer good diving, fishing, boating and safe swimming. Croquet and Bowling Clubs only 5-10 minutes walk away.
