Our home

We live at Waikanae Beach an hour north of the capital city Wellington. We lived in Wellington for 33 years and had a holiday home in Waikanae Beach which we have now fully renovated and live here permanently. It is across the road from the beautiful Waikanae beach, walking distance to café's and a corner dairy. Kapiti Island off the coast is a protected bird reserve which you can organise tours to visit- options to stay the night on the island. It is a very relaxed area and only an hour by train or road into the capital city Wellington.
Destination Waikanae on facebook is good to see what is going on. Below are websites for the 2 closest café/bars about 200 metres from our house.
I will add more photos soon.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple of 35 years. Bill retired at the end of 2018 after over 47 years with the same company since he came to New Zealand from England. Therese works in Real Estate sales and has for nearly 20 years.
Our three children have left home, and since 2010 we have been to England and Europe every three years to Bill's family in Devon and Cornwall
With Bill retired, Therese will continue to work but can take 2 months off in the New Zealand winter/European summer. We are planning to go to England/Europe anytime from May-September 2021 if anyone wants to start planning a NZ holiday. It is our winter but we can do a non simultaneous swap if summer is preferred.
We also would enjoy a swap within New Zealand or Australia.
