Our home

Our holiday home is a typical Kiwi beachhouse. It has 2 double bedrooms and a 3rd bedroom with two single beds.
The main bedroom has it's own bathroom with shower, the other bathroom has both bath and shower and was recently remodelled. The kitchen is a good size, with coffee machine and a full size fridge. The living area is large and roomy with separate breakfast/dining table area and a large squashy sofa with flatscreen tv. During the warm months all the eating and living is done outside on the extensive decking which has fantastic seaviews.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our perfect holiday home sits on 15 acres on a hill on Waiheke Island, overlooking the sparkling Hauraki Gulf that surrounds the island, a 30 minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland. It has it's own beach where we kayak and take early morning/evening swims.
About a 5 minute drive away is Onetangi Beach, the most popular beach on the island.
The house sits on 15 acres of land which extends down to the sea and is very private with no through road.
Waiheke Island is home to a thriving artist community and there are plenty of studios to visit.
Much of the land on the island is given over to winegrowing and there are some fabulous vineyard restaurants within easy reach. (www.mudbrick.co.uk)
There is plenty of activity on offer on the island (www.waiheke.co.nz/tourist.htm) and for those who specifically like to get out and see what's on here's another website (http://www.gotowaiheke.co.nz/).
For us, the island life is about relaxing and once we arrive, we tend to stay and relax.
However, for a first visit to New Zealand you may want to explore further afield and it's only a short ferry ride to Auckland, which is worth a couple of day visits. (http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/destinations/pacific/new-zealand/auckland/),
A car rental from Auckland airport is recommended and can be taken over on the car ferry (house is 15 minutes from ferry terminal).
If New Zealand sounds too far flung we do have a rural cottage in England which is available for swap at anytime.
