Our home

My home is comfortable, quiet, light and clean. It has a sunny open plan living/dining/kitchen with a private deck off the living and dining areas. There are two double bedrooms. One has a double bed, one a king single with trundle bed, and the living room sofa opens to a double bed if needed. The bathroom has a shower, bath and vanity unit. There is a well maintained yard with fenced lawn, vegetable and flower gardens. There is a single garage and extra parking for visitors.

Who we are

  1. I am Carolyn, 46 years old and a teacher. I love to travel and might do a home exchange on my own or with a friend or family member for company. I am rather tied to school holidays to do international exhanges in 2010 (2-18 April, 3-18 July, 25 September - 10 October) but would consider any time during 2011. Local exchanges for weekends would be fine at any time. If you are willing to feed my friendly cat that would be great or I'll make other arrangements.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The home is the rear property of 3 so it has a quiet situation away from the road yet is only 800 metres from the centre of town. Te Awamutu regularly appears in 'best town' ratings for NZ and is known as 'Rosetown'. It is safe, friendly, and has a good variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, a cinema and other facilities. Yet it is only a 20 minute drive to the city of Hamilton for an even wider choice of shops, entertainment, events etc. Other nearby places of interest are: Within 1/2 hour - Lake Karapiro (watersports) Wharepapa (rock-climbing), Waitomo (beautiful limestone caves to visit and/or cave adventure tourism), Otorohanga (Kiwi House/ bird sanctuary), Mt Pirongia (hiking), Maungatautari (hiking /unique mainland 'ecological island). Within 60 to 90 minutes drive - Lake Taupo (watersports/trout fishing/thermal areas/boating/swimming/shopping etc) Rotorua (thermal area/Maori culture etc), Kawhia and Raglan (beaches/fishing/surfing), Tauranga (East Coast beaches).
