Our home

Our home offers expansive sea views of Onemana Beach, 9km north of Whangamata on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, 2hours drive south east from Auckland International sirport, and 90mn drive north of Tauranga. The self-contained bedroom with ensuite and kitchenette on the ground floor has its own deck overlooking the garden and sea views.
The main house situated above the double garage and self-contained unit has been designed for magical sea-views from every room, including the bathroom. Both bedrooms (master with ensuite and walk-in robe) open onto the large deck which extends to the open plan kitchen, dining and living room. The large baywindow seat is the most popular seat in the house. The 50" plasma is also a hit on winter nights.
House is spacious, wooden interior with underfloor heating, large modern kitchen. We used to have a small holiday cabin here for holidays, liked it so much we decided to build a bigger home to live in permanently. We love it !

Property features

Who we are

  1. Both Peter and I are keen travellers, both working in the airline industry as longhaul fight attendants. We are in our late thirties and have a furry child (our 9yrold Maltese terrier Chante) We enjoy outdoor pursuits, especially scubadiving (being an istructor myself) and Peter being Swedish is a keen skier. I am a beginner skier myself.
I love to cook, hence why the kitchen in our home is a chef's delight. We prefer to travel to unusual places, off the tourist track and like to experience the "real" culture, food and meet the locals. We like to immerse ourselves in the local culture rather than see the tourist/commercial side of places. We are keen animal lovers, we have a very spoilt Maltese terrier and take her mounatinbiking in her own backpack and seakayaking in her own lifejacket !
We prefer to be away from the city rat races, and whilst we enjoy the human contact the cities and our work offer, we like to retreat to nature hence why we moved to Onemana.
We are very house proud and love the lifestyle of being able to travel and explore the many wonders this planet has to offer.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac bordering the reserve along the surf beach; a 2mn walk to the beach. Onemana is a quiet holiday destination for city dwellers. There are approx 200 dwellings in the amphitheatre shaped bay and only approx 50 permanent residents, a cafe, small convenience store. It is an ideal base to explore the picturesque Coromandel Peninsula, and only a 2hr drive from Auckland city or a 10mn drive to the nearby town of Whangamata which has trendy cafes, restaurants, 2 golf courses and a base for fishing charters. You can also learn to surf in Whangamata, or explore the many beaches, bush trails of the peninsula, renowned for its "greenie" population.
