Our home

Our family beach house is comfortable, clean, and has spectacular views from inside and out. It has a large deck that overlooks the Pacific Ocean and various Islands. The first 2 photos are the view you get from 2 of the 3 sides of the house. It is a classic NZ bach which is minimalistic but very relaxing and good for your soul. It can be exchanged at most times of the year and does not need to be simultaneously swapped.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Shaun and Vicky, a married couple (late 30's - well Shaun is) with two daughters Beth and Lily. I am an accountant in my own business and Vicky is an interior designer. We are about to embark on 12 months holiday which goes something like Hawaii, Canada (north US), UK and France. I plan to work remotely via my laptop.. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Tairua, an east coast Coromandel peninsular town is one of the closest (155km) to Auckland, NZ's largest city. Also within easy reach of many other popular Coromandel holiday spots, including Hot Water Beach (20 min), Cathederal Cove - Hahei (25 min), Tairua has a small supermarket, a few other shops, a garage, and several restaurants. There are many bush walks for both experienced and recreational trampers. Fishing and diving charters to offshore islands are also available. Situated on Paku hill, our holiday home is close to several short walking tracks, running between the trees & homes on Paku hill, including a scenic 10 minute walk to the main surf beach. The beach life in summer provides options of surf club patrolled beaches or more remote beaches 15min drive away. The tidal inner harbour provides many activities; more swimming, kayaking or just walking on the sands at low tide.
See one of the websites describing the "Coromandel" in New Zealand to find out more about the area, for example; http://www.coromandelfun.co.nz/
If you enjoy surfing, sailing, fishing and tramping this is the place to be. The Coromandel Peninsula is known for its breathtaking scenery and beautiful beaches and is NZ's most popular holiday destination.
