Hello, our names are Shaun and Dee and we have a blended family of five boys and we live in the beautiful city of Christchurch. Shaun works for the nearby port company and I work in the city as an Executive Assistant. Our home is situate in a village which is approximately 13km outside of Christchurch. Sumner is a vibrant village with a big café vibe, some great restaurants (Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Italian), an art gallery, a boutique bakery, a supermarket and some quirky homeware type shops. At the weekends we seem to get packed full of healthy looking lycra clad individuals (great hills in the background to get to the peninsula) and hoards of surfers heading to the beach chasing a wave (two beaches to choose from). Christchurch itself is undergoing a major redevelopment phase after the earthquakes of 2010/2011. Would highly recommend a visit to the city to observe its great powers of recovery but most importantly would stress that because of this unprecedented event Christchurch is now one of the safest places in the world to live. Our house sits perfectly on a hill on the peninsula but if you are at all anxious about seismic movements, there is completely nothing that could fall on us. We love our home, and we hope you will too. It is generously proportioned and we relish the space it affords us for our blended family. With fabulous sea views and two decks available to chill on, each member of the family can find their spot. In winter if you are a skier or a snowboarder or nearest skifield is 1.5 hours away and is a favourite with the locals. And if you’re a tramper, well you will already know that NZ offers some of the finest walks and scenery you will ever experience. And if all of this is sounding too energetic … then just chill with an iced tea or a gin and tonic on our deck watching the ships before the berth at our beautiful port of Lyttelton which is just round the corner.
