Our home

Our son built us our cosy passive solar home in 2014. It is 2 storeyed with views over the Manawatu River and on clear days Mount Ruapehu. The house is north facing so very warm and sunny in winter and cool in winter. A solar system provides free hot water when sunny and a wetback system in winter. A large sloping section has vege gardens and fruit plus many native trees. The three bedrooms and living area have floor to ceiling windows facing out to the beautiful views over the city. A large kitchen with a gas hob and electric stove has a walk in large pantry.. THe open plan living area has dining, lounge , large TV area plus a library/music area.

Who we are

  1. We are a semi retired teachers looking forward to being able to travel for the first time. I, Pauline am an English teacher who teaches migrants and refugees and Craig is a technology teacher in a secondary school. My hobbies are yoga, reading, sewing , knitting and weaving with flax. We both enjoy walking and Craig is a keen cyclist and swimmer. We also both enjoy spending time with our adult children and grandchildren and going to movies. Craig is a skilled woodworker having built much of the furniture in our house.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

At the door are many planted walkways covering many kilometres in the area above Palmerston North. It is a few minutes drive down into Palmerston North- a university city. The university is a few minutes drive or a half hour walk on the walkways to the beautifully treed campus.Palmerston North is a small, provincial city two hours from the capital Wellington and 3 hours north gets you to Lake Taupo and ski fields. Ours is a new, quiet, peaceful and friendly suburb with a small shopping centre with a selection of restaurants, a supermarket , pharmacy and hairdresser.
