Our home

Our home is very sunny and warm with views over the front lawns and garden. On 3/4 acre section with mature trees, has electric gate, is very private and quiet. Built of brick & tile comprising 4 bedrooms, large open plan kitchen/dining with separate lounge. Lounge has wood burner plus there is central heating/air conditioning. 1 large bedroom is upstairs with computer. Parking is a large double garage plus carport and room to park further vehicles. A separate sgle gge is currently used as storage/workshop. We purchased the property and spent time bringing the gardens back to order. The house built late 1980's is still in its original decor, comfy but 80's. Still very attractive though. No dishwasher, sorry! As there are great lawn areas for outdoor living we would arrange for these to be cut regularly. Located in semi-rural area yet close to town and shops.

  1. As we head into semi-retirement Kev 62yrs and Alison 59yrs, we are looking to do more travelling especially visiting our 2 daughters in England and spend time with our young grand children. One daughter with children lives in Somerset and other daughter in London. We are keen to travel around UK and Europe. We enjoy walking, biking, reading, travelling, cooking, gardening, socialising with friends. Just recently we spent a week sailing around the Bay of Islands at the top of the North Island, a first for us! We are a quiet, 'young at heart' laid-back couple who have been married for 42yrs. Kev is a builder/joiner, owns factory providing doors for homes. Alison works in real estate sales and marketing and has a real estate/tourism/foreign exchange background. Home exchange is a first for us and we would enjoy house exchanging knowing someone reliable is in our home and treat our home carefully as we would yours.

Where is it?

Located in the North Island, Otaki is the northern most town on the Kapiti Coast just 55 minutes from Wellington City to the south and 45 minutes to Palmerston North in the north. A commuter train from Palmy to Welly stops at Otaki and returns daily. Otaki has a micro-climate all of its own being a horticultural/farming area. Recently the town has developed as a desirable retail outlet store area including Bendon, Pumpkin Patch, Kumpf, Annah S, amongst others. Excellent cafes abound. A lovely beach to the west used for swimming, fishing, surf life saving, building sand castles. To the east is the Tararua Range where good walking tracks are available for the beginner and the serious walker. A superb all season golf course, bowls, tennis, squash, swimming, rugby, netball, football clubs for those who are sporty.
