Our home

My home is sunny, light and modern. The main living area is open-plan and each window and the deck off the living area allow uninterrupted views of the countryside. It is just a short stroll to the beach and the river.

There is a small but supportive community of permanent residents at the beach who I feel sure would be happy to help you out or provide some company if you so wished.

Property features

Who we are

  1. I am a woman in her late 50s and I have achieved some financial independence and retired a little early. I am very pleased to be able to offer my home as a place to relax in and a base to explore the local Kapiti/Horowhenua Coast and further afield. I look forward to getting out and about and the prospect of staying in a home and getting to know the local area appeals to me. I am honest, conscientious and clean and I promise I will take every care in looking after your home.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Waikawa Beach is valued by local residents and visitors alike for its unspoiled natural beauty. Yet it is only 7 kms from State Highway 1 which is the main route through the country. On the way into Wellington all the coastline is dotted with communities offering beach access, shopping, cafes and restaurants, arts and crafts and the like. There is a good Restaurant at the top of the road to the beach and a fruit and vegetable shop offering fresh local produce. Supermarkets may be found at either Otaki or Levin, and Otaki specialises in outlet shops for some of the main brands of New Zealand designed clothing. There are many wonderful walks: the sandy beach stretches for miles, Lake Papaitonga nearby offers a walk through native bush and a chance to learn a little pre-European history, and the whole Tararua State Forest Park is readily accessible offering Walks such as Mangaone Walkway or full scale tramps, for the fit and well-prepared, staying overnight in basic tramping huts in the bush.

I will leave a blue Hyundai Accent car for you. My favourite time for a northern hemisphere visit would be either Autumn or Spring but I am flexible about this. I notice my cat has managed to find her way into the photo shoot! I am happy to put her in a cattery while you are here or, if you wish, I could leave her here - this is entirely up to you. I also have a dog to which the same applies
