Our home

Well loved 130 yr old family home overlooking the port and the sea.

It is a 2 storey house with 1 double bedrooms downstairs and 2 single bedrooms upstairs in the eaves. There are two living areas, a separate kitchen, a separate laundry and a study (which will double as another bedroom). The house has a large veranda and a small unfenced garden and outside patio. We have open fires and burn wood.
The house is on a private driveway which we share with 4 others, garage and parking.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Public servant/early childhood teacher (50s) emigrated to NZ 25 years ago as scientists. Spent a few years living in the city, moved to rural NZ now enjoying a relaxed lifestyle in sunny Nelson. Close to the sea and the mountains.

This is our first go at a house swap and are keen to locate a property in south england with reasonable access to family in Surrey.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is located in the early settled part of the city around the port. 5 mins walk to the sea, 10 mins drive to a wonderfully child friendly beach and 5 mins to the city centre.

Nelson City is known for its cafes, vineyards and arts and crafts. There is a popular market held every Saturday morning. Nelson is the sunniest city in NZ with a population of 40,000, the city is part of the Nelson region (pop 80,000) that includes 3 National parks and some amazing beaches and coastal scenery. The region's neighbours include Marlborough (1.5 hrs drive) which is famous for its wine and the scenic Marlborough sounds.
