Our home

We offer a new, modern, spacious apartment (condo) across the street from the wharf and several great restaurants. The apartment has been newly furnished with large flat screen TV and video/CD systems. There are 2 bedrooms each with its own bathroom. There is a queen bed in one room and a King bed in the other bedroom. The King bed can be split into 2 extra long twin beds if necessary. There is secure parking in the complex for 2 cars. We are in the centre of the waterfront and a short walk to town. There is a bus stop in front of the apartment.

The kitchen, bar, dining room and living room are all one large room. The large deck has a super barbecue and there is seating for 6.

This is a second home, so would be available in the New Zealand summer as well as June, July and August when we are planning on travelling.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are owners of A Culinary Experience Luxury Bed and Breakfast, a five star B and B, designated as one of the best accommodation's in New Zealand. Since the apartment is a holiday rental, we are most interested in doing non-simultaneous exchanges. We like travelling in June, July and August when our B and B is not busy. We are both in our sixties, are originally from the States where Joe was a dentist and Kay owned a cooking school. We lived on our yacht for several years after early retirement and cruised from Canada to Mexico. We also led food and wine tours in Italy, France, Mexico, Ecuador and Turkey. We have been operating our B and B since 2003. If we are home when you are at the apartment we hope you will join us for a pizza party using our wood-fired pizza oven. We have our own bees and chickens so we can provide you with honey and free range eggs.

We have done a house exchange with a B and B on the North Island and really enjoyed the experience. We are non-smokers, neat and tidy and will take care of your home as if it were our own. We are interested in exchanging in Europe. Let us know if you would like to exchange with us. Even if you are not planning a trip this year, we can bank your time for a suitable stay when you can travel to New Zealand. We do want to travel in June, July and August 2012.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located on Wakefield Quay across the street from the boats, restaurants and swimming area. There is a long sandy beach close by and the inner city is an easy walk. Nelson, known for having the greatest number of sunshine hours in New Zealand, is the most charming city in New Zealand and is located at the top of the South Island. There are great wineries, artists, an art museum housing the oldest art collection in New Zealand, a Provincial Museum with interesting history of the area. There are 3 national parks within a 1 1/2 hour drive. There is skiing in the winter nearby. Fishing is possible from the quay (no license required). The airport is 10 minutes away and the ferry (to the north island) is 1 1/2 hours away.
