Our home

My home is relaxing and unique. It was built 2 years ago and is a very comfortable easy place to be. There is a river 200 metres away with great trout fishing to be had. The views are over the mountains in the small friendly town of Murchison which is one and a half hours from Nelson at the top of the South Island.
Your experience will involve looking after 2 cows and 7 hens which lay you fresh eggs each day. I have budgies to on 2 acres of land. I have 2 beautiful Labrador dogs so if this is an overseas exchange you could be asked to look after them also but other arrangements can be made. There is an outside bath hooked up to the hot and cold taps to unwind in under the starry sky.
The house is set up with a mezzanine second storey so you can make it what you like. There is concrete down stairs, the kitchen, the bathroom and two bedrooms and upstairs there is one bedroom and a living/playroom. You will love it.

Who we are

  1. My name is Angela and over the past 20 years I have enjoyed living overseas mainly in Europe and Africa. I have come home to be closer to family and it is the right place to be. I am studying this year(2013) so can really be anywhere as long as there is internet access.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The town is surrounded by mountains ans 4 world famous rivers, gold panning is a must while you are here. People come here from all over the world to fish and kayak. There is a kayaking school just down the road and the house sits alongside the Mataki River. There are about 1000 people living in or around the heart of the town mostly farming families. There are some small shops, four cafes and four country style restaurants. The local school runs from ages 5-18ys and has a local bus service. Murchison is a destination and sits on State Highway 6 in between Christchurch and Hamner Springs 2 hours to the south and Nelson to the north. It is green and lust and a quiet getaway spot.
