Our home

Extensively renovated home with all facilities on 1 acre site with swimming pool, floodlit astrograss tennis court, indoor outdoor living, safe area. Will provide gardener to maintain property during exchange. Golf clubs, tennis racquets, bicycles, trout and sea fishing gear all provided. We recently lent the use of our home to a group of Canadians and they were delighted with the place. We also have a beach holiday home which can be used at Whitianga which is just over 2 hours drive away. It has 6 bedrooms and sea views in a lovely area. Car is a 2005 Focus Ghia.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Janet and I (Mervyn)are a retired business couple who have travelled fairly extensively including 7 times to UK. I am a Rotarian and we are both practicing Anglicans. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren (13,11,10,6) and are very particular with other peoples property. We want to base ourselves in England for around 5 months preferably between April and November so that we can bring our children and their families to visit and see the UK that we have enjoyed so much as well as visit our many friends there. Several exchanges for shorter durations during the overall period would be considered.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Matamata is a town of around 7000 residents with excellent facilities for all sports and is very central to Auckland, Rotorua, Tauranga and Hamilton. It is a high quality farming area with a major horse breeding and training industry. It is also where "Hobbiton" was filmed for Lord of The Rings. First class golf course for around 7 pounds per round. There are several trout streams within 10 minute drive and under an hour to Lake Rotorua and 1.15 hours to Lake Taupo. 2 hours to Mount Ruapehu for skiing. A beautiful area. Good dining.
