Our home

Our Lakefront cottage provides a comfortable setting for enjoying Kinloch and the surrounding areas.
There are views of the lake from every room, the lounge providing a particularly spectacular scene. The house has two double bedrooms and a third that has a set of bunks and a single bed. The master bedroom has an ensuite and the second bathroom has a bath/shower for those who prefer it.
The kitchen is central, surrounded by the family room, dining room and lounge making it a very user friendly area.
In summer the large sliding doors at the front and rear provide an airy indoor/outdoor flow onto the decks which give the option of sun or shade.
In winter time the gas fire and electric heating turns it into a cosy warm retreat.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are two retired couples (sisters and their better halves), who have decided that there is still a lot of the world to see. We are looking forward to spending some time in another country exploring it for ourselves, rather than taking a tour. We enjoy a game of Golf, walking, cycling (well maybe..) and we are interested in learning how life is lived in cultures different to our own.

The summer time activities can be anything from swimming in the cool fresh waters, to sailing around the shores. Trout fishing is the main attraction (Brown or Rainbow)Chartering a boat gives the extra advantage of local knowledge.
A walk around the Lake will take you to Kawakawa Bay, another of the Western Bays, only otherwise accessible by boat.
Kinloch has a 10 hole Golf course for those who enjoy a casual game and for those who enjoy something more demanding, the Jack Nicklaus designed Kinloch Golf Club provides a challenge.
It is possible to take a charter and visit the Maori Rock carvings at Whakaipo Bay.
Taupo is only 19km's away, and provides a wealth of choice of activities.
Huka Falls, the Shrimp farm, Geothermal activity, the lake... skiing at Mt Ruapehu. Whakapapa or Turoa fields offer a wonderful winter option.
Lonely Planet is a good starting place to check out the area (http://www.lonelyplanet.com/new-zealand/taupo-and-the-central-plateau/taupo)
