Our home

My spacious, comfortable home is 34 years old and set atop a hill in one of the two sunniest provinces in New Zealand. It is designed to catch all day sun with verandahs and/or decks accessible from all bedrooms and living areas and leading on to a large and beautiful garden. Wi Fi.

It has a special warmth and charm because of the use of stained wood and interior bricks.

The only sounds you will hear are those of lambs and birds, as the house is situated 1 1/2 km off the road, yet it is just 15min drive from nearby Blenheim (24,000 pop.) Nearest neighbor is less than 1 km away so whilst you may feel isolated, in fact you are not.

This is a child friendly home.

Who we are

  1. I am a very active widow (70yrs young) and a retired school teacher who loves to travel and also host travellers through schemes such as Servas and HelpX.

As I have a camper in which I can live when you visit, exchanges need not be reciprocal.

My interests include outdoor activities, aviation, gardening, bridge, reading, travel and friends and family. I have three married sons and 5 grandchildren who are all a huge part of my life.

I can most certainly be trusted to take immaculate care of your home.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

My property is 42 hectares (100 acres) was once a deer farm but now mostly leased to a sheep farmer. It is gently rolling hill land surrounded by vineyards.

Marlborough is famous for Sauvignon Blanc wine and numerous wineries processing many different wine varieties are situated all over the valleys of this province, most offering free tasting and often with a cafe attached.

The water wonderland of the Marlborough Sounds is within 35 minutes drive, Nelson and the famous golden beaches of Tasman Bay just 1 1/2 hours drive away, and the North Island (which you can see from my kitchen window) accessible by a three hour ferry ride. There is a golf course 6 minutes away by car, walking tracks on open and bush clad hills on our valley walls, mountaineering, skiing and glacial lakes just over 1 hours drive away and a town at your doorstep with all the services you are likely to need.

I am a passionate gardener and you will enjoy sitting out on the decks in the peace and quiet of my little piece of paradise.
