Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Tai Tapu is a "sought after area", being close to Christchurch (10 mins) but having a quiet, rural feel. The village has several good cafes and restaurants, and many good local walks on the Port Hills. The Halswell River flows through the village (and past the bottom of the garden).
Christchurch is large enough to have all major amenities, including museums, art galleries, Wildlife reserves, many restaurants and cafes, and beautiful botanical gardens (going punting on the Avon River through the gardens is particularly relaxing). The population of the city is only around 350,000, so it is still small enough to find your way around easily.
There are several great beaches, some popular for surfing. The Port Hills, which surround the city on two sides, provide ample opportunity for day walks, with fantastic city and coastal views.
The nearest ski fields are about 90 minutes away, and Christchurch is a central base from which to explore the many tourist attractions of the South Island.
