Our home

Our house, designed and built by my architect husband Brian 5 years ago, is a sunny split-level family home, a 5 minute walk to the beach. The spacious open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area has spectacular water views. Decks on 2 levels (upper level with gas barbie) are ideal for el fresco entertaining. Two bedrooms have double beds, and sea views. A third has a single bed and there is a double sleeper couch in the family room should more accomodation be required. The house has superb indoor/outdoor flow. There is a landscaped small private garden, and garage parking for 2 cars.

Who we are

  1. We are a professional couple, our two children about to start work and university. We have been in NZ for six years, originally from South Africa. Catherine and Chuck are growing up; this may be our last family holiday and we are hoping to get back to Cape Town. This would be a good opportunity for a SA family, wanting to visit friends or relations in NZ, or to come and have a "look-see". We are looking for accomodation for 2 weeks, but will be away for a month and so our house will be available from 6th December to 5th January.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are situated on a peninsula, with beaches within walking distance on either side, and a golf-course a 5 minute drive away at the end of the peninsula. There are a number of local resturants, also within walking distance. Water is warm and safe, ideal for swimming. The area is quiet and safe, kids can walk down to the beach to swim or fish in safety. New Zealand is a boating nation, there is a slipway around the corner from our house and superb fishing and sailing. Downtown Auckland, with museums, art galleries, shopping and restaurants is a half hour drive, or a pleasant ferry ride away. Auckland is known for its spectacular beaches and scenery; there are many beautiful walks and reserves. Waihiki and Rangitoto islands are there to be explored, an easy ferry ride away.
