Our home

This cute beach (holiday home) has recently been renovated for comfort with an authentic twist. Situated on Waiheke Island, one of the many island of the Hauraki Gulf and just 35 minutes from downtown Auckland. The house has wrap around decks, with large, covered areas, so you can use the BBQ anytime. Relax in mid-century style, mixed with contemporary highlights. Curl up on the couch and enjoy the eclectic book collection. Wander down the road to the famous Ostend market on Saturday mornings, walk the new Te Ara Hura coastal walkway, which goes straight past the beach, enjoy some of the neighbourhood cafes or visit the many award-wining wineries on the island. Drive, bike or walk the short trip to any of our beautiful beaches - Palm Beach or Onetangi are only 5 minutes away by car. This is a simple house with a semi-rural outlook. It does not have a sea view, but the closest beach is a 5 minute stroll away. The cottage has its own off-road parking and sits on over half an acre of landscaped grounds, approx. 30m from the main residence. A great base for a short stay or extended holiday on the island, the beach has not T.V. but we do have ADSL WIFI (fibre coming soon) and a cool mobile screen trolley with DVD and Chromecast to stream videos from your mobile device or laptop, great for personal use.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is situated in the middle of Waiheke Island, close to the supermarket and nowhere on the island is very far from the best restaurants, cafes, wineries and beaches. The bust stop is close by for trips to the village, beaches or ferry terminal, with Auckland, the biggest city in New Zealand only a 35 minutes fast ferry ride away. Waiheke is the second-largest island in the gulf, with an estimated permanent population of 8,730. It is the most accessible island in the gulf, with regular passenger and car ferry services, a Waiheke-based helicopter operator, and other air links. Waiheke is a popular holiday spot, especially during the summer season, when its population increases substantially due to the beaches, vineyards and restaurants, Wine Festival and the Jazz Festival and weekend trippers from around the country and the world.
