Our home

Hi, we are a family with two children who are looking to exchange a house for 2-3 weeks in Jan, Feb or Mar 2007. We're hoping to trade part of our lovely New Zealand summer for your North American winter as we would like to locate ourselves near a ski field. Our house is very family friendly with a 980sqm section. It is a large, renovated villa with 4-5 bedrooms, granite kitchen, large living and separate lounge, double garage and a gorgeous, private outdoor pool area. Our central location would make an ideal base from which to explore Auckland city and surrounds, as well as other North Island places of interest.

Who we are

  1. Our names are Candice and Bernard and we are mid-30's with two children, Jake and Phoebe. I was in law and recruitment before motherhood and Bernard is an economist. We're very responsible, friendly, non-smoking and trustworthy!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Auckland is called the City of Sails due to it's proliferation of yachts and water activities. Summer in the city is a lot of fun and there are great beaches nearby (KareKare, the beach where 'The Piano' movie is set, is a 35min drive from our house). The restaurants here are outstanding and cheap, too, when currency conversions are taken into account! Because the North Island is relatively small, it would be possible to explore many places using Auckland as a base (you can drive to almost any destination within 2-8 hours). There are a number of small islands close to Auckland such as Waiheke and Great Barrier which would make lovely day or overnight excursions, too. Some people might be interested in spending a couple of weeks in Auckland before launching into an extended holiday around New Zealand during our summer months (Dec-March).
