Our home

My house is built in 1901, very solid, insite is has been renovated from time to time. Walking into the hallway there is a toilet, cupboard under the stairs and door to my room. The dining/livingroom is about 4x8m, with a little (glass)extension between room and garden. A couch, two nice armchairs, wood burning stove, tv, video and dvdplayer are in the "upperpart" of the room. One step down is the diningpart with table and 4 chairs, stereoset. In the extension is the piano and a part of my dollhouse-collection. The interior is a mix between modern and antique. Some nice paintings decorate the walls. Two patiodoors give entry to the little garden (30 square meters)with garden furniture and parasol. During summer it can be very nice and sunny out there, love to be there. A sunblind keeps the warmth out of the extention/room. The kitchen is half open and you'll find there everything you need. In the extension next to the kitchen is washing machine, washdryer and dishwasher. In the hallway the stairs brings you to the firstfloor. At the backside is my bedroom with kingsize bed and cupboard. Next to the bedroom is the walk-in closet. The hobby-, sparebedroom is at the frontside, next of that room is the bathroom, bathtub, seperate shower, toilet, sink. The house has central heathing. On the secound floor (closed door) lives a nice youngh couple, medical doctor and nurse. They have their own bathroom, toilet, kitchen.

We also travelled all over Europe, Israel, Curacao, Cambodja, Laos, Thailand and of course we have seen many beautiful places in our own little country. These days I travel on my own or will be compagnied by my siter. Have done 2 home-exchanges, 2006,5 weeks New York and 2008, 5 weeeks Ashland, Oregon. Both were very, very nice experiences. I am sure my house offers you a great place to stay, it is a very good start to make many nice trips and it feels great to come really `home` after a trip. Open the patiodoors, and enjoy the memory in your `own` garden or take a nice warm bath and sleep well in a good bed!!! Feel invited, You are welcome!!!

Your neighbourhood

My house is situated in the nicest, lots of trees, parks, very safe, neighbourhood of Utrecht. Utrecht lies in the middle of The Netherlands, 25 (train) minutes, 20 miles, from Amsterdam. Within a few minutes cycling (2 bikes available) you can be in either woody environment or the city centre, park or museum, shop or pool, theatre or restaurant.... and so on. In the centre of Utrecht there are many canals, with nice outdoor cafes and restaurants along these canals. Great for dinner during long summernights!! Also many, good, shops are situated along (upstairs)these warfs. Busstop is less than 1 minute walking from the house. The trainstation you reach within 8 minutes per bus or bike. Bus- and railroad traffic is very good, frequent departures and arrivals to all places in The Netherlands. There is also international railroad traffic.A direct train runs between airport Schiphol and Utrecht, day and night. I have a little car, this can be in exchange too!!
