Our home

Welcome to the beautiful city of Maastricht, founded in Roman times on the banks of the river Maas. We are smack in the heart of Europe!
Maastricht is situated on the border of three countries: Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. From here you have easy acces to Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels and London!

Our house is comfortable, clean and homely!
We have a lovely and sunny backyard and a roof terrace.

Our house is situated in the city, close to the trainstation but in a quiet area.
We are in walking distance to the city center, with the river Maas running through it, with beautiful Roman remains, medieval churches and cobblestoned streets with amazing restaurants and lovely terrasses for enjoying a nice glass of wine or a local beer and do some people-watching!

We hope our lovely house and beautiful city will feel as much as a home to you as it does to us!

Who we are

  1. We are a happy family of four: Metten (1971), Margo (1969) and our two girls Sophie (1998) and Juul (2002). Sophie is living on university campus and will most likely not be travelling with us.
Metten is a detective at the police force and Margo is managing director to the Ronald McDonald House of Maastricht.

We have been living in this house since 2006.
It was originally built in 1940 and when we bought it, we spent 9 months rebuilding and adding to the house so it would become a true home to us.
Since then, we have lived here every day in gratitude.
And we love to share our home with others!

So far, we have had three successful and very enjoyable experiences with Homeforexchange.com.

We love the vulnerability, honesty and trust that comes with opening your heart and your home for people from all over the world.
We truly feel this makes the world a better place!
Feel free to reach out if you are interested!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Maastricht is a beautifull city in the south of the Netherlands, with approximately 125.000 inhabitants. It was founded in Roman times and is therefor is the oldest city in the Netherlands!

The area of Maastricht is green and has hills (the only real ones in the Netherlands, since we live in a very flat country!)
The area is ideal for hiking, bikeriding and exploring the other nearby countries.
Close to Maastricht you will find Vaals, where there is a unique three-land-point: you can be with one foot in Belgium, one in Germany and meanwhile hold your loved ones hands in the Netherlands....

Maastricht is located on the border of three different countries, and therefor it is the perfect location to visit Europe!
Paris is only three hours away by train or car.
The airports of Brussels (Belgium), Cologne and Düsseldorf (Germany) are all a one hour drive away.
Amsterdam is 2 hours by car, 2,5 by train and the Amsterdam Schiphol trainstation is situated right underneath the airport so transportation from and to Maastricht is easy!

There is a small airport in the city of Maastricht too: from here it is possible to take budget flights into different European destinations.

Taking the train to the heart of London will only take you about 3,5 hours.

So from our home, all of western Europe is right at your feet!
