Your neighbourhood

DOWNTOWN IN THE OLD CITY OF GROENLO in the east of the Netherlands.
Nice and big mansionhouse (1935) In the very old fortified center of Groenlo, the house is situated at the old marktet place, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, terraces, musea, canals and very old buildings surround the house! The old Calixtus church is also a multifunctional museum and your neighbour. Sometimes there is a concert in the old church, it is very impressing! In Groenlo live about 10.000 people, there lots of (cultural) things to do here.

The fortified town of Groenlo - popularly known as Grolle - has stood through the centuries at the eastern part of Holland next to the German border. Originally called Grunloh, it was founded on the banks of the river De Slinge long before the year 1000. Soon afterwards the Calixtus Church was constructed in the town centre. The first of the town's massive walls was built between 1226 and 1234. In 1277 Groenlo (meaning 'green forest') was granted a charter by Reinoud van Gelre. Groenlo has canals, like Amsterdam!

Groenlo is in "De Achterhoek" a very nice part of Gelderland, there are lots off forests, rivers, castels, wine estates, farms who sell there owen products, like; cheese, meat, jam, fish, wine etc. etc.
also lots of galeries, antique shops, musea, and national parcs.

You can take a walk to the old forticications the canals and historical buildings and old cannons, they are only a few minutes away. You can make a canal tour on a electrical boat. Climb in to the tower of the New Calixtus, take the train for a nice trip, play golf, bowling, tennis, swim, rent a bike, very nice cycling/walking/ car tours.

The tourist office is only 100 meter away, there is also the museum.

Shops, supermarket, bakery, kiosk, restaurants, canals, parcs, only a few minutes walking

Sometimes live music in the bars and centrum. agenda; http://www.vvvoostgelre.nl/zien_en_doen/evenementen/

Because of the various city-strolls and walk/cycle/car/routes, which "Groenlo" and its environment has, you can explore the historical and natural areas in a sporty way. There are a few golfcourses / swimmingpooles/lakes/tenniscourts etc. etc.

Nice city's; Winterswijk, Enschede, Arnhem, Zutphen, Apeldoorn, about 30 minutes driving.
Utrecht, Amsterdam, Giethoorn, Volendam, Harderwijk about 1 till 1,5 houer driving!

Germany is only 5 km away, you can visit; Munster, Bocholt, Dusseldorf, Keulen.
