Our home

Our light and sunny canalhouse is located on two floors of an historic monument right in the old historic city centre of Amsterdam, facing the Anne Frank House in the famous Jordaan district. We can offer you two floors, in actuality two complete apartments with a stairway that connects them. Hence they may be 'married together' as one, or used as separate residences.
The main apartment, situated on the first floor overlooking the canal,is the 'Belle Etage'or'beautiful floor'is
a large loft-like space of 60 square meters with an oak floor, open fireplace, and high ceilings.
The kitchen is in keeping with the loft-like industrial design feel and has a dishwasher, microwave, oven and restaurant-style gas cooktop. Connected to the main space by a marble hallway is the master bedroom/ study. There is a Japanese two-poster bed, a mezzanine library, and access to a large sundeck that overlooks a private garden (see photos).

The lower-level studio is approx. 90 sq. mtr. and has a fully equipped Italian kitchen, kingsize bed, bathroom with bath, shower, double sinks, and a washing machine and dryer. It is quite a comfortable and efficient base for one or two people to discover Amsterdam.

Both apartments have a direct view on the canal and are modernly furnished (Philip Starck, Eileen Gray, Eames furniture with all modern conveniences, plenty of classical music, books, a large dvd-filmcollection and wireless internet access. We prefer non smokers. Our house is not very childproof, so not suitable for very young kids. Baby no problem.
We have a friendly cat Jimmy of 7 years. He needs attention, love and care! So we like catlovers to respond.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our neighborhood 'The Jordaan' is popular with locals as well as tourists. Known for its art galleries, boutiques, and a variety of small shops and the famous 9 streets. Our neighborhood is also home to many cafés, bars and restaurants, some with terrace's directly situated on the canals.
There is always something to do just outside our doorstep. On Saturdays and Mondays you can shop at the weekly Noordermarket with the locals and have a coffee and warm apple-pie at one of the many café's facing the Noorderkerk.
Strolling down one of the beautiful canals for which Amsterdam is so justifiably famous is something that both tourists and locals do after shopping in the street markets.
Less than a 10 minute walk to the Central Station, a 5 minute walk to the Royal Palace at Damsquare and a few minutes bike ride to the Museum quarter and Concert Hall, you will find our house to be convenient for all your needs.
After living here 30 years we still are finding something new and inspiring every day we walk out the front door.

This really is the heart of Amsterdam; we're on one of its oldest and most beautiful canals. Our house is right in the middle of the Jordaan, Amsterdam's bohemian centre with plenty of restaurants, cafes and art galleries. Great shopping in the area. Walking distance to Central (train) Station and just about everything else! So much to do, so much to see. Two markets (one organic food) literally around around the corner on Saturdays. Antiques/flea and fabric market on Mondays.
