Our home

My home is located in the centro area of what is described by Conde Nast as "the most desirable vacation destination in the world". Although it is in the historic district, it is only a 9 minute walk to downtown and is very private and quiet with a large flower filled garden and courtyard full of birds and butterflies. The property itself is in 3 separate sections, with the main house, a casita (small house) and another building containing a large bedroom and bath and a studio. It is beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary furnishing along with objects and art from around the world.

There are 3 fireplaces in the house…one wood burning in the TV room, another wood burning in the Master bedroom and an artist built gas fireplace in the L.R. The master bedroom has a library-reading room, a dressing room as well as both his and her bathrooms. Handmade tiles are in the kitchen and all of the baths and the kitchen has a very large window which looks out to the flower filled courtyard.

The courtyard has a large hammock under the trees, which is a wonderful place to while away the late afternoons with a book as well as observing the bird dramas taking place above with the background music of the fountain a few feet away.

My very friendly housekeeper and gardener, Lillia and Juan come twice weekly to keep things in shape for you.

Although I have listed children as OK, There are many stairs in the house and the house is not appropriate for small children or toddlers.

Who we are

  1. ME AND MY FRIENDS (I am on the left)

I came to San Miguel almost 20 years ago. I am an artist as well as an interior designer and continue to be inspired by the remarkable color, architecture and spirit of this wonderful town. My now deceased husband and I designed and built our dream house and combined both traditional details and modern conveniences.

I love collecting beautiful things and spending time in my garden and studio as well as with my 2 very friendly dogs and 2 cats. I also enjoy cooking for my friends and hosting small dinner parties on the loggia adjoining the kitchen.

I also love shopping the garage sales and the weekly Tuesday Market looking for materials for creating art objects which I sell from my studio.

    LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

My neighborhood is considered to be the the desirable in town. Along with being a short walk to the center, it is a 5 minute walk to Juarez Park, which is the largest park in town and has lots of activities during a typical week. A very popular restaurant-bar serving the very best seafood is located a 3 minute walk away, along with numerous small shops and tiendas where basic food supplies can be found. The architecture in the neighborhood is essentially original with cobbled streets and remarkable colors.

A short cab ride away is "La Aurora", which is San Miguels version of 5th Avenue in NYC. Many people from around Mexico come here just to shop there. It has all of the best in art, home furnishings, antiques, jewelry and it is easy to spend a delightful afternoon viewing all of the treasures.

Should you desire to explore outside the city, Guanajuato (called one of the most beautiful cities in North America) is only 1 1/2 hours away. There are tours which are available for a reasonable cost. Also wonderful is a tour to Pozos, which is an old silver mining town about an hour away. It is mystical and magical and has quite incredible photo opportunities.

Also available is a trip to our local pyramids which have recently become available to the public and horseback riding trips in the mountains.

We also have a local fine arts theatre, an opera house, and many musical events with performers from all over the world.

Do not think that the town has only Mexican food to offer. When I moved here almost 20 years ago, we had 4-5 really good restaurants. Now we have dozens of them offering most any cuisine. And some of the best will even deliver if you want a quiet evening at home.

You will want to do it all!!!
