Our home

Ocean view oasis in the tiny Caribbean Island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. A short 20 minute ferry ride from Cancun. Surrounded by plenty of trees and tropical plants, there is complete privacy and security, as well as excellent ocean views from upstairs.

Saltwater heated infinity pool with lap swimming pumps. The pool can be used for relaxing, or swimming!

The bedrooms, living room, office and ensuite bath are indoors and air conditioned and the outdoor living room, dining room and kitchen are covered but outdoors. The main bathroom has a new soaker tub and 2 person shower.

The second bedroom has bunk beds, Full size on the bottom and single size up top. The house has 2 sources of wireless internet, 2 scooters for your use and a 4 legged doorbell (dog) at your service.

The temperature is consistantly 30C during the day and never goes below 24C in the evening and it is always comfortable in the evening.

Housekeeper and Gardener are included. They will keep everything tidy, including the pool. We have many English speaking friends that love to show people around.

Oh, have a Tandem Bicycle and a ladies mountain bike for your use, in addition to the scooters. This is a small island most people drive golf carts or scooters or take taxis.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Isla Mujeres is a very safe island. There is a large Navy Base that houses 2200 Navy personnel, most of them live in the community, there are also Federal, State and Municipal Police forces here. There is nothing safer than having a policeman living on your street! Isla Mujeres is a very important place for Mexico and Mexicans, strategically and culturally, they call it the 'Jewel of the Caribbean'.

We are situated at the south end of the island and the ocean is about 100m to the East and West, the neighbourhood is all larger homes owned by ex-pats
We are 500m from the easterly most point of Mexico, Punta Sur.

All amenities and the local village is about 1km north, and the main tourist town is 5km north.

The whole island is 7km long and about 500m wide. There is an active fishing industry, but tourism is the main industry. Most of the visitors are on day trip tours, after 5 pm the island becomes a very different place. The locals come out after dark when it is a bit cooler and typically sit outside their homes and socialize and watch the world go by.

There are world class attractions here, scuba diving, snorkelling, Turtle sanctuary, Garaffon National Park and Dolphin Discovery are a short distance away. Isla Mujeres is also one of the few places on earth where you can swim with whale sharks in the summer.

Whether you want authentic Mexican or something more familiar it is all here. Excellent restaurants of all types. Even a few small night clubs.

This is a laid back working community, it is not your typical Cancun experience. Just to give you an idea, the Island just got it's first traffic light last year. If you want great shopping, movies, golfing and nightlife that is all available with a short 20 minute ferry ride back to the mainland in Cancun.

We can arrange ground connections from the Airport to our door.
