Our home

Casita Alicia is a beautifully landscaped and maintained destination home located in San Miguel de Allende in the mountains of Central Mexico at 6300 feet ASL. The weather is fantastic year-round, with no humidity! This charming comfortable casita with a covered veranda that faces the sunny garden and fountain is a perfect vacation spot for one or two couples savoring "the good life" in San Miguel. The handsome interior includes two master bedroom suites (one queen and one twin-bedded). There is one large bathroom upstairs off the landing between the two bedrooms with a large walk-in shower and a half bathroom downstairs. Both bedrooms suites have windows with wooden shutters and individual balconies with comfortable seating areas facing onto the downstairs garden with weeping-wall fountain. Throughout the house are lovely design elements on the walls and in unexpected niches. Each bedroom has perfectly complementary colored and styled bedding, luxurious sheets and towels (all purchased in the US). The baths and the sparkling, fully equipped kitchen are a marvel of Mexican artestry tile work. The living room and master bedroom have cozy fireplaces. The entire house is decorated with artwork and artifacts acquired in both Mexico and numerous countries visited by the owners while they were living in the Middle East. Very comfortable upholstered sofa and chairs flank the fireplace in the living room. The modern kitchen has everything you need for ease of meal preparation. The filtered/purified/softened water system throughout the house eliminates the need and bother of bottled water. A cozy dining area with its view of the garden is a tranquil and lovely setting for intimate dinners or for entertaining. Located on the outdoor patio are tables and chairs for those who enjoy dining al fresco. WiFi, satellite TV, maid service, and many other amenities are provided at no additional charge.

Who we are

  1. My husband is a retired Army Colonel (helicopter pilot). We spent 9 years in the Middle East. While on vacation in 1999, we decided to visit San Miguel for the first time having heard so much about it in International Living Magazine and from friends. Well, that was all she wrote! We purchased a home before we ended our 8-day vacation. At that point we still had two more years on our contract in the Middle East, so we were not able to move here permanently (full-time) until March 2001. We then doubled the size or our home when we purchased the lot next door, adding the "casita" we are currently renting. Actually, the word "casita" is a misnomer! It's as large as our initial home, only even better appointed!!!

This home is located about a 10-minute walk from the Instituto de Allende (where classes in all manner of artwork are conducted), and about a 20-minute walk from the town center where the huge 17th century Parroquia (church) is located across from the El Jardin (main square). Buses and cabs (for only about 20 cents) pass in front of this gated community every few minutes. This town is a haven for Shopaholics Anonymous! And there is every kind of restaurant you can imagine. A short distance from town are numerous hot springs, saunas, massage parlors,
