Our home

My Western-style flat is comfortable and clean. Two can sleep on futons in the bedroom. Up to four can sleep (two in the bedroom, two in the living room) since the futons can be folded and stored during the day. It is on the fourth floor (there is a lift).

The flat is a good base for sightseeing. The excitement and history of downtown Tokyo are an easy 20-minute train ride away. The peaceful, rural foothills of the Japanese Alps and "old Japan" are 45 minutes away on the same train line in the other direction. That area is good for hiking. A wonderful village of historic homes and business is not far by bus or taxi. By rail, Yokohama and Kamakura can be reached within 90 minutes, Hakone in 2 hours and Mt. Fuji, 3 hours. Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima are within 3-6 hours by high-speed train (shinkansen). The train station is only two blocks from my flat. Tokyo has one of the world's best and safest transportation systems, so a car is not necessary.

Grocers, convenience stores, and restaurants are nearby. The building tenants are very friendly and helpful. All speak fluent English; most also speak Japanese.

Who we are

  1. My name is Scott. I am a high school choir director at an international school. I direct the music program at my church. I am an avid bicyclist and jogger and enjoy traveling, hiking, and cooking. I appreciate nature, museums, music (classical, world, and jazz) and good books. I am a non-smoker, clean and responsible. I will treat your home with utmost care. I may travel alone or with one or two others. I am willing to do non-simultaneous exchanges at most any time of the year.
