Our home

This is a beautiful apartment in an Italian palazzo. In the heart of downtown historic Vicenza on a main street with coffee shops, supermarkets and famous Palladian buildings close by. Ten minute walk to train station which will take you to Venice or Verona in less than an hour.

The apartment is on the third floor of the building with a private elevator.

Apartment is on two levels wood beam ceilings. Terrace is private and provides great views. Love to spend time reading, drinking coffee or having a spritz.

The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and oven, microwave, blender, toaster and frig.

The master bedroom is on the second floor of the apartment with a full double bed and a small bathroom ensuite. On that floor there is a study in which when I have an overflow of guests we blow up the air mattress and turn that into a bedroom also. There is a second bathroom upstairs that is a bit larger with a good shower.

On the main floor of the apartment the guest room has a queen bed with a door that leads to the terrace which is a great place to unwind.

The large living room, kitchen and two bathrooms are on the main level. One bathroom has the washer and drier along with a tub. The other bathroom is more of the 'guest bathroom'.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Within walking distance there is so much to see and do. Vicenza is the birthplace of the famous architect Antonio Palladio. Much of the architecture here was designed by him in the mid 1500's. Downtown is stunning! There are many trattorias, pizzerias and upscale restaurants within walking distance. Upscale boutiques, clothing, gold, housewares are all within walking distance. Every Thursday there is a huge market that sprawls through the town.

If you get tired of small town charming life, Venice, Verona, Asiago, Bassano del Grappa and Padova are less than an hour away.

Best restaurants
Borsa, Righetti's and Vesuvius are local joints. More upscale would be El Coq (Michelin Star) and FuoriModena.
Nightlife
Vicenza tends to be a quiet town. You can always find a place to sit, chat and have a good glass of red wine or a glass of Proseco. Favorites are La Proseccheria (right outside my wooden doors), Borsa and Bar Flavia.
Favourite cafés
I have to say I love having a coffee and brioche at my cafe outside my wooden doors of my apartment.
Where to go shopping
Corso Palladio and Corso Fogazzaro have shops that include upscale goods from Yves St. Laurent, Hogan, Todds, etc. There are also small boutiques with moderately priced clothing and shows.
Your area's cultural and historical landmarks
Palladio, Palladio, Palladio! THis is the land of Andrea Palladio and his architectural masterpieces.
Local walks
Up to Monte Berico, out on the bike paths, lots of places to walk, jog or ride a bike to.
Places you love to exercise
I love to walk through Vicenza at 5:15 AM when the town is quiet and merchants are just starting to set up. On Thursday mornings there is a market so I get to see them setting up.
Top day trips
Venice, Verona, Padova, Asiago, and exploring the Palladian villas in the area.
