Our home

The apartment can easily accommodate 4 people. You will find it perfectly clean, with plenty of room for your belongings and with all you can need in a short stay (clean sheets and towels, basic food, domestic appliances and so on). We’ll provide you with a map of the area and with information about the best places where you can do your shopping, useful phone numbers, public transport and so on. Someone from our family will be at the apartment to meet you when you arrive.

The apartment is on the second floor of a turn-of-the-century building (no elevator). It has high ceilings and marble floors and is formed by:

Who we are

  1. We are in our sixties and have three grown-up daughters who live on their own with their families. We love traveling and are experienced home-exchangers. Our first home swap was in 1986 in Paris and since then we've had many wonderful experiences both in Europe and in the USA.

We usually travel with friends (another couple) and, when possible, we prefer travelling during the winter or spring, to avoid high-season air fares. We can usually arrange non contemporary exchanges, even if this would require some flexibility from our exchange-partners.

We are going to New York in August 2011 (exchange already arranged) and are looking for another place in the USA where to spend 1 or two weeks. We have not decided, though, whether this will be in Northern California, or in New England (or even Canada). Tempt us a good offer! I

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

What are you looking for in Rome? Art, history, museums, food, shopping?
Whatever you are looking for, it's here!
The apartment is located in the center of Rome, five minutes walking from the Vatican and in an excellent position to reach the historical center on foot, by bus or subway. It is located on the border of "Borgo Pio", the medieval area surrounding the Vatican, partially destroyed by Mussolini. This is now a popular area, with a lot of little shops and pubs.
Near the house there are shops to buy everything you can need, a food market, an important shopping area and many restaurants and pizzerias.

The neighborhood is called Prati . The word prati means meadows in Italian: at the end of the 19th century most of this area was formed by meadows, surrounding an ancient castle (Castel Sant'Angelo), located along the river. A new residential neighborhood developed on these meadows between the end of the century and First World War. Most of the buildings date from that time and share the same architectural style.

It's now one of the more requested neighborhoods in town, both for its central position and for the high quality of services it can provide (from schools to movie theaters, shops, restaurants and so on).

Public transport is very good: buses are everywhere and there are three subway stations. Traffic, however, is bad (as almost everywhere in Rome!).
