Our home

This apartment is on two levels and is located at the top floor of a 4 story building. At the top level a door opens up on a very large condominial terrace surrounding the apartment (about 150+ sq meters, photo Condo Terrace) from which one gets a stunning view of the city, including Saint Peter Dome and the Memorial Monument of Piazza Venezia. At the lower level there is a private terrace of about 40 sq m (photos: Terrace,2,3) accessible through the living room (photos: Living Room 1-7) and an open kitchen (photos Living). There are two bathrooms: one with tub (photo: Bathroom 1); the other with shower(photo: Bathroom 2). A small corridor constitutes the entrance to the apartment (photo: Entrance). Along this corridor, a door opens on the studio
with a sofa-bed in it (photo: Studio). The terrace is full of plants: jasmine, oleander, pithosforus, lemon tree, olive tree, rose camelia and various herbs: mint, basil, parsley etc. There is an automatic watering system.
Downstairs from the condo, there is a garage and a storeroom. We keep 3 bikes there, plus a motorcycle and a car (Volvo V50, available on agreement).

Bedrooms and Studio have A/C, Phone and Internet.

Who we are

  1. I am a retired professor from University of L'Aquila, my wife a retired school teacher. Our daughter 27 lives in London. I am familiar with SB since the 70's, when I was a Ph.D. student at UCSB. I have been back to SB several other times for short or extended periods. We never swapped houses, it's our first time. But I think we have good chances, as people living in SB have - to my experience - living styles similar to ours, including an appreciation for arts, music, nature, sports, sunshine and good food. We would like to get to know - and make ourselves known to - YOU in all ways possible over the internet, so please feel free to write to our personal e-mail address: bdotharp@gmail.com

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located North of Rome, near the Olympic Stadium and very close to the river Tevere (ponte Milvio). One traffic light away from main A1 freeway. Right across the river, within walking distance, there is the modern artistic pole of the city: The Auditorium (classic and jazz), the Maxi Museum, the Olympic Theater (comedy and musical). In our neighborhood, within 3 min walk we have a tennis club, a secondary school (age 12-14) and a scientific "Liceo" (age 15-19). From main hub of Piazza Mancini several bus lines (with stops in our street) connect to the city center in 20 min. In our block we have bank (Deutsche Bank), bar, newspaper stand, bookshop, a butcher, fruit & veg store, small grocery, children park, dog park, pharmacy, wine & liquor shop, a few clothes shops and plenty more. Indoor car space is in the condo in addition to free parking on the street. The neighborhood is one of the greenest in Rome, with tall pine and magnolia trees whose tops almost line our terrace. The condo is very quiet: we hardly ever hear our neighbors. We have parties till late at night and nobody ever complained.
