Our home

The house was built very recently and is in perfect condition, clean, cosy and welcoming. Along with two attic bedrooms, it has a large room below ground level which can be used either as a living room or bedroom and is always cool and fresh - this is an enormous advantage in the hot summers here. There is a small private garden with a terrace which is perfect for eating outside. The neighbours are friendly!

Who we are

  1. I am a freelance English teacher, separated with children. Originally from Ireland, I have lived in this rural idyll for 25 years and would like to spend the summer period in a different setting and offer that opportunity to my children too should they want to come. I am looking for a house swap for July and August in the UK which is a long enough period to allow me to work. Any offers of work would also be welcome!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is 4.5 km from the historic centre of Perugia. So it is easy to get to the town and it is on a bus route which could be useful for older children.Of particular interest in July are the two music festivals in Umbria, the first being Umbria Jazz and based in Perugia, followed by Trasimeno Blues which offers concerts in little villages in the area around Lake Trasimeno. The lake area has a beautiful unspoilt landscape of olive groves and gentle hills. Less than 5 mins by car and you are on the highway which will take you to famous Umbrian hill towns like Assisi, Spoleto etc, or down to Rome or Florence in less than a couple of hours. August is dotted with 'sagras', which are local village festivals where people eat and dance outside - these offer first hand experience of local customs, food and wine.
