Who we are

  1. We are a retired university couple and are new to house exchange. We spend about half of our year in Padova and the other half in Manhattan. We have four grandchildren - 2 in London and 2 in NYC. We would like to visit the London grandchildren over their Xmas break and are looking for an apartment that could serve as our temporary home while we are doing so.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our apartment is 10 minutes walk from the centre of Padova and 10 minutes from the train station. It is situated across the road from a small piazza in which is to be found one of the best ice cream stands in the city. Padova, a beautiful and historic city is brimming over with art, fine restaurants that are reasonably priced, and many bars and enotecas at which one can drink wonderful wines by the glass and enjoy tasty snacks. Padova has one of the best markets in Italy. It is active every day except Sunday and is situated around and within an enormous and magnificent 14th Century building in the centre of the city. Padova is also home to the second oldest university in Italy and one of the half dozen oldest in the western world. Galileo was a professor at University of Padova for 18 years. Giotto's major masterpiece can be viewed in the Scrovegni Chapel and many other great works of art are distributed in the numerous ancient churches that are found throughout the city. In 30 minutes one can drive to the surrounding Euganean Hills where there are numerous country paths and trails along which one can find many things of interest and beauty as well as more wonderful restaurants and vineyards. Within an hour of Padova are many other important northern Italian cities such as Venezia, Vicenza & Verona.
