Our home

The house, suitable for families or couples of friends, recently restored, is on two floors. On the ground floor there is a sitting room with a sofa bed and a fireplace, a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and a window. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed with a marble bathroom and the other with a single bed and another slightly smaller bed for a child or a boy up to twelve years old.
Five beds for adults plus one. There is no heating or air conditioning in the house.
The property overlooks a large terrace equipped with a barbecue, tables and chairs to eat out, read and rest in good weather. The terrace and the façade of the house overlook the Botena creek.
The house is located in a small village, surrounded by immersed in the green and bordered by a creek; it can only be reached on foot: the car should be left in a small parking area that is three minutes walking.
We are in Tuscany, on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, in the town of Vicchio, Giotto's birthplace. In the surrounding countryside, near Ponte a Vicchio, there is a large area with swimming pools and tennis courts and a good restaurant, “La casa del prosciutto”, very popular. From Ponte a Vicchio it is possible to go cycling on cycle paths; the area is full of small taverns and restaurants. In Vicchio there are shops, supermarkets, ATMs, the Post Office and the train station. Near the lake of Vicchio you can practice horse riding, canoeing and archery.
In Mugello there is a racetrack, where motorcycling and motorbike races take place (exit on the Bologna-Florence motorway, toll booth of Barberino).
For archeology enthusiasts in Dicomano, not far from Vicchio, there is a small archaeological museum with Etruscan finds from nearby sites. At Poggio di Colla, in the municipality of Vicchio, excavations are still ongoing. There is also an itinerary to discover places of landscape, cultural, handicraft and gastronomic interest in Mugello (info: www.mugello-toscana.it). In Villore “Tre Castagni” pizzeria is open on weekends.
The town where the house is located is called Villore. It is about 42 km from Florence and can be reached in an hour.
For those coming from the highway, exit at Barberino, on the Firenze-Bologna stretch (at the exit of Barberino there is a great Outlet). From the Barberino highway exit go along Vicchio (CAP 50039) and then you will reach Villore in just over 50 minutes.
The place is very silent. Only the rustle of the water and the chirping of the birds break the silence. A few meters away from the house the path of the Italian Alpine Club passe. It is used by passionate country and mountain hikers sometimes even in mountainbike.
The site is a "locus amoenus". For Latin peoples a locus amoenus had three characteristics: to be on a stream; find yourself surrounded by greenery; have a large wooded area populated by wild animals.

We accept preferably vacation house in downtown from big cities with good connection with airport, railway station, public trasport, etc...
Available from May 15th to October 15th.
