Our home

The villa is overlooking the valley made famous by Annie Hawes in her book 'Extra Virgin' and is no ordinary holiday home but a uniquely designed modern villa with a total living area of almost 300sqm. It has been built in a contemporary style and is set in one hectare of traditional terraced olive tree groves, which provide numerous secluded hideaways for both adults and children. The large open plan living area leads through four sets of French windows to a modern outdoor platform allowing you to feel at one with the idyllic valley and fully appreciate the mesmerising sea view, also arrestingly clear from all bedrooms. There is a small pool as an alternative to the beaches. Thus, while offering tranquility and nature you are close to all essential facilities like cosy village restaurants, shopping and leisure activities. The location is 2km from Diano San Pietro, a small charming village, 4km from Diano Marina, a larger town on the coast with all amenities, and about 10km from Imperia, the capital of Liguria province, with a delightful port and many attractions.

Who we are

  1. I am an Irish doctor and my husband works for the German government. We have been living overseas for many years working in development and have 3 sons aged 10, 13 and 15. We recently moved to South Africa and are keen to explore the region. Our villa in Italy is our European base and provides us with a wonderful chance to relax and unwind. While our travelling is limited to school holidays, the villa is available also at other times so we are flexible in potential exchange arrangements.

Your neighbourhood

Liguria is a narrow strip of land that is bordered on the one side by the sea and on the other by the Alps and the Appenines. It is known for its coastal beauty in combination with mountainous backdrops, which offer skiing facilities in winter as well as traditional summer pleasures. The coast with its numerous bays is about 450 kilometers long and along its entire length there are wonderful sandy beaches as well as tranquil pebble coves. With its combination of mountains and sea Liguria offers not only fantastic beaches with numerous opportunities for all kinds of sport but also a hinterland with an enormous choice of places to see. A large number of these places have retained their Middle Age charm and have superb historical centers. For those who want to experience classic Mediterranean lifestyle and exclusive shopping the cities of Genua, San Remo, Milan and Nice are nearby.
