Our home

Hi, everybody! We are willing to swap our flat in Ancona with any kind of accomodation for 2 (my wife and myself) or sometimes 5 people (my wife and myself + 3 kids). It is a decent one bedroom flat which can actually accomodate 5 people even if it is only around 40m2. The flat is on 1st floor. The front windows face the street and the French window at the back faces a park. We have a free internet connection, washing machine, microwave, stove, oven, wooden floor, one double bed, one sofabed and a bunk bed. There is also a kitchen-diner and a bathroom with bath/shower. We also have satellite TV so you can watch programs in English. We also have a small dog, "Happy", but someone else will take care of him when we are away. We are clean and tidy people. My wife is extremely demanding about keeping our house clean so you won't have to worry about finding your house untidy when you come back home. Obviously, we expect the same of you. ;-) If you decide to come to our place, just book your tickets with (cheap and fast). It takes only 1hr. 45 min. from London Stansted to Ancona airport which is which is only 10-15 min. from our place by car (which we could provide) provided you promise to travel only in and around Ancona and keep within the speed limit (max. 110 km.).

Your neighbourhood

Our flat is situated on the Adriatic sea coast. It is just 15-30 minutes from the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic coast, and at the same time in the middle of a small village, "Ghettarello", that has around 50 families in all and who are all very friendly. You could go to Portonovo (stony beach, see photo) or to Senigallia (sandy beach, see photo) just 15-30 minutes by car. However, if you are a culture vulture, you could visit the Roman Amphitheatre in the centre of town and some other Roman artifacts in the local museum. Loreto, on the top of a hill, is another wonderful town which is considered the second Vatican city with beautiful churches (20-30 minutes from Ancona) and religious buildings. We also have the world famous incredible Frasassi caves near Ancona. Check them out at Next, just an hour and a half from Ancona, you can visit the fantastic towns of Assisi (birthplace of San Francisco) and Perugia as well. There are regular trains operating from Ancona to these towns. If you are a food lover, you could go for excellent pizzas and pasta at "Desiderio" or for "stocafisso" (stockfish), a local fish delicacy, at "Ristorante Gino" (check out his website at Don't forget the excellent red wines, "Rosso Conero" and "Lacrima di Morro D'Alba", and the white wine, "Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi". At Christmas and New Year you can visit special Christmas markets.
