Our home

Our home is in a truly magnificent position overlooking a lovely Italian hill village, Brisighella. We have three hills facing us, one with a castle (open to the public) a clock tower and a church. At night we see the lights twinkling under a canopy of stars. We have been living here for 6 years now. The house is bright and light with teak floors and staircase and grey stone tiles in kitchen. The guest bedroom sleeps two and has a balcony and huge panoramic windows looking out over the village. We have a double sofa bed there. Our bedroom has a king size bed. Our little girls bedroom has two single beds. We also have a double sofa bed downstairs in the living room, if necessary.
The two bathrooms are quite luxurious - a very large shower downstairs and an extra large bath upstairs. Both have bidets and toilets.
Kitchen is also very large with panoramic views over the countryside and has an extra large hob as I do a lot of cooking! Outside is a large veranda with wooden table for outdoor eating.

We are 5 minutes drive from the village of Brisighella and 15 minutes from Faenza. You would need to hire a car to get around or on previous house swaps we have occasionally done car swaps too...
We have several acres of olive groves and vineyards, so lots of outdoor space for kids to roam around in. We have swings, as well as a tree house in a plum tree.
The house has been newly restored and the decor is contemporary, but has the thicker walls of an older property which keeps it nice and cool in the summer. The outdoor veranda is where we spend most of our time in the summer. It is equipped with a wooden table to seat 8 people and a seating area with fans.

Who we are

  1. I am English and my husband Luciano is Italian. After living for 10 years in London he decided he needed to be back in the sunshine and blue skies again! We have a 13 year old daughter who attends school here in Brisighella. I work as a tourist guide in Europe and will be happy to make suggestions for places to visit nearby. We will of course take great care of your home.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are in the countryside, but just a 5 minute drive from Brisighella, one of the 'most beautiful villages of Italy' (I borghi piu belli d'Italia) and a 15 minute drive from Faenza with the International ceramics museum. So much to do around here locally - such as geological nature park 5 minutes drive away. Great open air swimming pool surrounded by pine trees 5 minutes away. Wonderful hiking in Apennines. Day trip to Camaldoli monastery for evensong with the 'white monks'.
Cultural cities such as Ravenna (our provincial capital) once the capital of the Roman Empire and included on Unesco World Heritage List for its amazing mosaics.
The Adriatic coast with all its attractions is also one hour away by car or train. The sea is shallow and warm, so ideal for famiilies and very safe.

There is a very scenic train ride through the Apennines to Florence which takes one and a half hours, so can be easily done on a day trip. Bologna is a gourmet's paradise and a very historic city only 35 minutes by train from Faenza.
A trip to Venice could easily be incorporated into the visit, too, as Venice is just a couple of hours away by train.
