Our home

Our house is quaint and cozy, built on 4 levels and like all houses in the historic centre, of 3-foot thick tufo stone which keeps the heat out in summer and the warmth in in winter. The basement or 'cantina' cold-storage room is finished in concrete and the main level is higher than street level and has a kitchen and dining-room with fireplace. The second floor has a Juliet balcony, an office or living-room space and the bathroom. The third floor loft bedroom has hardwood floors, skylight and AC.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of four with two well-behaved toddlers, 3 yrs and 1 1/2 years old. I am Canadian and we moved to Italy after we got married. My husband works in Soccer which is why we'd like to be in Toronto for the summer, visiting with family and friends while my husband coaches.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is situated in the small, medieval hill-top fortress town of Civita Castellana, about an hour's journey north of Rome. It is near to all the lakes and country-side spots that Romans flock to in summer to escape the heat, noise and crowds in Rome. The house is in the historic centre of town which is enclosed within the old castle walls and surrounded by stunning valleys and farms. The main Duomo and piazza as well as bars, restaurants, cafes, gelatteria, bakeries, pizzeria, shops and farmer's markets are all within a few minutes walk from the house on ancient cobble-stone streets.
