Our home

We live in a newly refurbished apartment in an old family owned house. Therefore the whole outside and storage area can be used. The apartment is on the 1st floor looking from the front and at ground level from the back. It's an open-floor with a small bedroom with 2 twin beds, possibility to use an additional matress. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a small balcony. The kitchen is fully equipped and has access to a refreshing back garden area where you can enjoy the woods and often look at the goats grazing. The other door opens on our balcony where you can enjoy grilling and eating outdoors. Airconditioning is usually not needed in our area. The balcony overlooks a wide porch ideal for children playing. Upstairs live my sister and my brother but most of the time they are at work or out.
Next door my uncle takes care of his wonderful vegetable and fruit garden. The house isn't in the center of the town which provides a wonderful peace and quiet. You can reach everything on foot in 5 minutes, you can have fresh bread, milk and prosciutto delivered in the morning by our local breadmaker who delivers it on his old vespa! Or you can shop for it in the little local stores. In the house we have mountainbikes for adults and teens, skateboards, rollerblades, net for tennis. Backpacks for hiking and much more.
Of course you will also find plenty of tablegames, and books both in Italian and in English.

Who we are

  1. What to stay about my self. I was born here, left for Washington DC in 1995 where I lived for 15 years. I came back to Italy with my 2 Children in 2010 and settled here teaching English and working as a Tagesmutter. I met Luca who also has 2 children. I would love to be able to go back to DC from time to time when my children visit their father but we are a big family and it gets expensive.
We are very active people and we like to experience the real lifestyle when we visit a country.

We live in Valseriana which streches along the Serio river. Along it there is a 50km long bike path which runs from north th South and it is good for adults and children. Here and there you can find little cafes and Playgrounds and during the warm season it is great for picnicks and sunbathing. Www.valleserianabike.it
For those who like hiking there are all kind of trails that start from this area...easy and famous are Selvino, Monte Farno, Monte Poieto, Ganda. They are ideal for a picknick or for a good meal at the local agriturismo restaurants.
Www.valleseriana.eu ..... Our river offrers a particular show when in scheduled days the dam is open and you can see the jump which generates the tallest waterfall in Italy, 315m.
CULTURE: this space isn't enough to descrive the amount of architectural and artistical treasures that you can visit in this area. The most important is our wonderful Città Alta, the old town of Bergamo perched on the hill surrounded by its medieval walls.......there you will also find museums and the botanical garden. The lower city is the ground of the Accademia Carrara and the famous Donizzetti teatre. Shopping is fun in the upper and lower city.
You can reach the city by car, by bus, by elettric train, by bike ......it is 18 km away.
Il you like culture but you want to stay in the neighborhood, there are plenty of churches here sa well. Gazzaniga, Fiorano and Cene were built with the local black marble from our mountains..... Gandino's buildings date back to the 1500.....
