Our home

A very typical restored farmhouse with large living space, dining, complete rustic kitchen with walk in fireplace, three bedrooms plus study on second floor. Views of surrounding hills with hill towns and valleys. View from terrace especially beautiful. On the edge of a friendly small town, under the church which backs almost unseen on to the property. It is a walk of about two minutes up to the medieval piazza. Very tranquil, very Tuscan, very beautiful. A complete small farm that produces, for our home use, olive oil, wine, oranges and summer vegetables. Daily help comes with the house and is a necessary consideration. There is also a supporting family of four -- requiring no payment except for personal requests -- in a small cottage close to the main house. They are also there to guard and maintain the property, and take care of the dog when I am not there. Our private road that runs under the village leads to a large parking area.

We have a large library of English, German, and some Hebrew books. Internet connection is wireless in the kitchen, and attachable upstairs. One bathroom has a tub with shower, the other a shower. Both are on the second floor.

Who we are

  1. I am a widowed, living alone, researching and writing books about the area. Most recent book is a collection of food-based itineraries in Tuscany, with ten rural itineraries through the various hills of Tuscany. In England it was published as Tasting Tuscany, in the States as A Culinary Traveler in Tuscany.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Buggiano Castello sits one kilometer up from its local shopping center, Borgo a Buggiano, and ten minutes away from Montecatini Terme in one direction and the town of Pescia in the other. Lucca is a twenty minute drive on the nearby autostrada 11, as is Pistoia in the other direction. Firenze is about 45 minutes on the same autostrada. We are about 45 minutes from beaches, including Viareggio and Forte di Marmi. Above us are the mountains of Pistoia, and Abetone which is the local ski area. All of Tuscany is near by, Pisa less than an hour, Siena about 1 1/2 hours. Montecatini Terme shopping is good, Lucca is more fun. They are all very close.
