Our home

The apartment is based on the structures of an ancient temple of Apollo, just in the heart of the Roman city of Volcei. During the Middle Age, it became a church dedicated to the cult of the Holy Spirit.
From the entrance, where the pavement is constituted by the stone slabs of the public square in front of the Roman temple, to the vestibule door supported by two columns of the medieval church, to the long corridor characterized by the presence of ancient walls under the pavement, protected and exhibited by a glass slab, the house shows a perfect conjunction between past and present.
The apartment offers two pleasant bedrooms and a comfortable single bedroom, equipped with all comforts. From the windows you can enjoy the beautiful sight over the surrounding streets and the terracotta roofs of the village shadowed by the bell tower of the old City Palace and the clocktower of the main Church.
The heart of the house represented by sequence of the dining room and the living room with a beautiful fireplace enlighted by a wide balcony opening over a rose trellis and a medieval courtyard.
Hidden in the more ancient corner of the house, approached through a small passage delimited by the frontside of the temple, there is a studiolo, with a pavement in glass revealing the ancient Baptistry of the church with the basin for the immersion according to the Eastern rite. . Here the house offers the facility of a little library specialized in Art History and Archaeology.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Buccino is a 6000 inhabitants city on a hill to 670 m. s.l.m., between the Tanagro river and the Mount Alburno to the margins of the park of the Cilento and Diano valley.
The historical center of the modern city rises on the rests of the ancient city of Volcei, often conserved. The characteristic gradonati alleys and the roads follow the course of those ancient ones, while the ruins of a castle with an imposing norman tower rise on the higher part of the hill.
An archaeological park, allows the modern city to cohabit with that ancient one in an unique urbanistic and historical palimpsest.
Walking the roads and the alleys of Buccino offers to the fascinating possibility to move in the history like in a gallery of time. No separation interrupts the physical continuity between the rests of the various historical phases of the city all present in the same time. Therefore covering the same road, a roman mosaic or a rupester takeover, a preroman building or the Norman-Angioin castle will be found by us.
Buccino 63 km far from Salerno, city endowed of tourist port and railway connections from which easly the amalfitan coast with Vietri, Amalfi and Positano is caught up. From Buccino towards north in little more than an hour we are in Naples, Ercolano and Pompei.
From Naples and Salerno ferries and hydrofoils for Capri and Ischia leave daily.
Towards south instead, less than an hour divides Buccino from Paestum, Padula, Velia, Palinuro, Cilento Park and Diano Valley.
