Our home

Our cosy home. Very large and beautiful apartment. The interior is a mix and match of antiques and modern furnitures and arts. A large entrance leads on one side to the living room with three large windows flooded with light, three sofas and some armchairs, fireplace. The excellent acustic isolation from the windows provide a very quiet area although it overlooks via Santo Stefano. On the other side, a long corridor (about 30m) winds through the house and leads to the large kitchen (with a first balcony), to the 'play-room' with many kid toys and a table, to first bathroom, laundry and night area (Three sleeping rooms plus one small room with the cot). The master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, overlooks the small garden in the backside of the house (if you leave the window open you can hear the birds like in the countryside). At night it is comfortably cool throughout the hot summer. A first kid twin-room is very sunny, with en-suite bathroom. In the penthouse, a single room with optional futon sofa-bed -which may be taken down if required- (The penthouse is rather hot during the summer as there is no air conditioning).

Who we are

  1. We are Nicolò (41 PhD Engineer, high-tech start-up entrpreneur) and Giovanna (41 Lawyer and caring mom), a married coupled with four well behaved sons (1, 5, 7 and 10 years). We love seaside (sandy beaches for the kids) and mountain (skiing and hiking), as well as new experiences and adventures with the kids (e.g. cultural cities). Keen on trying home exchange for the first time, following Nicolo's sister long experience. Due to work and school constraint we would mostly consider offers for summer time or winter holidays. Occasionally we may consider short stays and exchanges also for week-ends. Non simultaneous exchange in August and for Christmas holidays is ok as will be somewhere else anyway.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

One of best addresses in town, set in a strategic position: within the ancient walls of the city -walking distance (5 minutes) to the very center of town (due torri, shopping areas, museums, dining, cinemas etc), and very close (5') to the largest park in town (Giardini Margherita), where you can jog, skate or simply relax. With cold and rain you can go for a stroll and shopping without umbrella as we are in the fully porticoed part of the city. Bologna, home of one of the oldest universities in the world, is not crowded with tourist yet offers many authentic cultural and leisure time opportunities due to its large student population. It has a well preserved medieval center with many historic buildings and some unique medieval towers and cathedrals. Bologna is also a strategic location to visit northern Italy e.g. 1) art cities (by train: within 1h to Florence, Milan, Verona, Ferrara, 1h40' to Venice) 2) Sea side (Riviera Romagnola 1h) 3) Hillside and Appennini mountain range (daytrip to skiing areas). Within 10' you may be biking in an unspoilt hillside (nothing short than Chianti!) seldom coming across any car (3 Race bikes available-and my personal advice).
