Our home

Our house is a solid beautiful house from 1942 that has been completely renovated in January 2011. It's a 1000 sqf house, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a big kitchen, a spacious and warm living room and 2 balconies. There is hardwood floor in every room but the kitchen and the bathrooms. The house is very well lit since there are 4 French windows, 2 on each balcony. The apartment is part of a small building (4 floor, 3 units per floor)
2 miles from the city center with convenient public transport connection (20 min)
Together with the house I will leave here some other stuff. There is a bike, a Vespa and a car. I mostly use the bike. But if occasionally you need the car (and you have a license), just take it! It's a black Renault Clio from 2006.

Who we are

  1. My name is Pietro, I'm 32 and few years ago I founded a startup company (mobile software) here in Bologna, Italy after studying Engineering in Milan and in Copenhagen and after some job experience in Montreal and again in Milan.
I love traveling, reading, skiing and sailing.

My girlfriend  Elena is now in Berkeley (since January) for a "visiting student period" for her PhD.
At the same time, it just happened (July 2011) that my business partner Michele and I were invited to spend 3 months at one of SF startup incubators and this is for us a great chance!
This is happening in these days so I'm pretty excited about it! Few days ago I bought my flight to SF and the same did Michele
We are 3 Italian guys in our 30s, me, my girlfriend Elena and Michele looking for a house for 2-3 people (possibly 3) from the beginning of September until the 20th of December. During this period Elena will keep on working on her PhD in Berkeley while Michele and I will run the company from SF trying our best in order to get as much as possible from this experience.

Your neighbourhood

Our apartment is in a quiet side street in a residential area 2 miles from the city center. We are at walk distance (less than 5 min) from a bus stop with buses going up and down every 10 minutes until 1 am.
Just in front of our house there's Pizzeria Mangiafuoco, probably one of the 3 best pizzerias in town! A great supermarket is just around the corner, there's a nice bar for breakfast with a pretty decor and most of the shops are really easy to reach.
Bologna is a wonderful place to live, it has the oldest European university, with roughly 100k students, has a spectacular medieval town center, where a big part of the university is and also many bars, restaurants, trattorias and shops (above all the traditional ones, expansive but with amazing food!). It is 30 min by train from Florence and 1 hour by train from Milan.
The city organizes many cultural events and you can find the right place for any taste. Bologna is called by Italians "la rossa, la grassa, la dotta" that means "the red, the fat, the learned". The red because has always been politically left oriented, the fat because food in Emilia Romagna is great (FYI: never ask for "spaghetti alla bolognese", they don't exist in Italy!!) being the region of pasta, tortellini, prosciutto and parmigiano and the learned because of the university.
Moreover people in Bologna are friendly and open minded and it is one of the most lively cities in Italy.
