Our home

Our home is a bright and comfortable family home. There is a large open kitchen area with a dining table, that seats 10, and a sunroom. We have two sitting rooms, both with TV's, DVD players, comfortable couches and open fireplaces. There are plenty of toys and DVD's for children.
There are 5 bedrooms; 4 double rooms, 2 with ensuite bathrooms and one bedroom with 2 single beds. There is also a cot if necessary. There is a large family bathroom with bath and shower. Also a WC downstairs and a laundry room. There is a terrace adjoining the sunroom with table chairs and BBQ. In the garden we have swings, a basketball hoop, goals, a trampoline, bikes and kids playhouse. The garden is securely fenced. It is a really good house for family and friends to relax and the large kitchen means there is plenty of room for everyone to cook, eat and socialize.

Who we are

  1. Hi, my name is Aoibhann and my husband is John. We are married and in our (very early) forties. I work for a local government department and John is a civil engineer. We have 3 lovely children, 6, 4 and 2 years old. We love to travel when we can and spend time with our children. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to give it a go and live like locals! We would like to get to know who we exchange with via email so we can pass on all our local knowledge. Our lovely Spanish au pair Maria will be with us too.

Your neighbourhood

Our house is located 2km from beautiful Trim on the river Boyne. Trim is a small town filled with things to do and see. There is the largest Norman castle in Ireland which is open for tours. 'Braveheart' with Mel Gibson was filmed here. There is golf, fishing, horse riding, balloon rides, indoor swimming pool & gym, a beautiful spa, kayaking and rope climbing. There are also excellent local restaurants and traditional pubs with Irish music.
Dublin is 40 minutes drive away. There is an excellent zoo, visits to Guinness brewery, bus tours and everything a vibrant city has to offer. As Ireland is a small country you can drive to both Galway and Belfast in 2 hours making Trim a great base to see the rest of the country from.
